Who are MCCA?
Middlesex County Chess Association (MCCA) is a non-profit organisation whose object is to foster chess throughout Middlesex, meaning the Cities of London and Westminster, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the London Boroughs of Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Enfield, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Haringey, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Islington, Richmond on Thames and Tower Hamlets.
Who owns MCCA?
The clubs from time to time competing in the Middlesex Chess League are members of MCCA and own it.
Who runs MCCA?
MCCA has three branches of management:
- the Council, which comprises member clubs and the MCCA officers, elects officers, and amends MCCA’s constitution and the Middlesex League Rules
- the Executive Committee, which comprises MCCA’s officers and takes important decisions
- the Officers, elected by the Council (or appointed by the Executive Committee to fill any vacancies), each of whom takes decisions within the scope of his or her office and not requiring Executive Committee approval
What are MCCA’s main activities?
MCCA’s main activities are:
- managing the Middlesex Chess League, in which its member clubs compete with each other
- organising county chess teams to compete on behalf of Middlesex against other county chess associations at regional and national level
