Legacy website
29 October 2024
MCCA’s former website served our member clubs, our officers, the chess world and the general public well over many years under the active management of our former Webmaster and long-standing Senior Match Captain, Anthony Fulton.
MCCA’s former and current websites will continue to be not only a window for the chess world and the general public, but also effectively an intranet for assisting our officers to manage MCCA and our member clubs to manage their Middlesex League activities and their constitutional role as members of the MCCA Council.
The former website’s success in that role was partly due to its flat hierarchy, which made it quick and easy to find essential information at just one click away from the home page. We have tried to replicate that ease of access in this website so far as practicable.
Importantly, our former site also includes much of historical interest, thanks largely to Anthony’s keen interest in chess history, as evidenced by his authorship of The Southern Counties Chess Union - a retrospective, published in 2022.
Following the Executive Committee's decision on 29 October 2024 to establish this new site, the former site becomes our Legacy Website for chess historians and for casual browsers with an interest in league and county chess in general and Middlesex in particular.
Much of the Legacy Website’s contents, including the pages for Officers, Constitution and League Rules, are already out of date, and will become more so as it ages. For up-to-date and accurate information on MCCA and its activities you should always visit these pages, where we hope you will be a frequent visitor!
