The Executive Committee on 24 October 2023 decided, on behalf of MCCA, to formally adopt the ECF Safeguarding Children Policy, also known as the English Chess Federation Child Protection Policy Statement.

The Annual Council Meeting on 8 July 2024 made the following appointments under the policy:

• Lead for Safeguarding: Peter Grant-Ross
• Safeguarding Officer: Angela Eyton
• Deputy Safeguarding Officer: Keith Jones

On 25 March 2025 the ECF Board adopted the ECF Safeguarding Policy, which appears to supersede the policy adopted by the Executive Committee on 24 October 2023.
